Pools tables and  pool tournament will be added to go along with the sports merit badge being offered this summer. This is a morning program with two sessions in the morning. Scouts will come to camp with the work sheet competed for sports merit badge and spend the week competing and learning skills in our pool room. Prizes will be given at the end of the week.

Guppy is looking for a few good scouts to join the Jr team here at Guppy this summer. Jr’s receive much the same training and run many of our water stations giving our Sr Guards more time to watch swimmers in the water. Jr’s are boys between the ages of 13-14 who receive food and sleeping accommodations at camp. Jr’s have their own uniform and events throughout the year to have fun. They meet up at Guppy on Sundays once a month to play pool, shooting, pizza, and day trips.

Guppy has received eight go-carts that have been shipped from N Carolina. They are getting tuned up for our new clay track. This clay track is the only one in Southern PA and is sure to draw campers from all over. Scouts may take the  go-cart racing academy by signing up a week for Guppy either with their troop or by themselves as a provisional camper. Call our registration number to sign up. Also scouts who complete the academy will receive the Automotive M/B.

Broad Creek Memorial Scout ReservationGuppy Gulch’s kayak water slide was featured in Scouting Magazine Cool Camp section of their magazine. This is the only kayak slide of its kind in the country. Scouting Magazines staff spent the entire day at Guppy taking pictures and exploring all the activities offered at camp with the comment that this is one unique camp. Of course we at Guppy and the scouts who have visited us say the same thing.

Several BSA scout camps have added paintball to their summer camp experience. Guppy keeping in the guides of BSA safe scouting will be opening two paint ball areas this summer. First will be a 3D paintball shooting gallery using todays hottest equipment. For $5 scouts will be able to shoot 100 paint balls on targets that move, make noise, glitter, and fall. Area two will be a paintball tactual course used by our Navy SEALS program for scouts. This area is more high tech, uses the clock, and is top secret. This area also follows the guides to safe scouting. These areas are sure to please scouts and leaders of all ages.

Guppy is working with several local scout camps this summer having several groups of older scouts coming to Guppy. This is part of there older boys program. Camp Rodney attended Guppy last year with their  Ace program and was a huge hit. With many new programs coming this 2013 season, Guppy will be adding staff. If your 16 and over we have several paid jobs. Teens 13-15 may apply for CIT’s and JR Lifeguards. To apply please call Mike at 443 604 3223 to set up an interview date.
